Give Back Program
The Give Back program started from the idea that the supported families should not only receive donations and help but learn the importance of giving back to their families, their community and their supporters. In the past the families had received food and clothing and our hope is to teach them to be grateful for what they received by giving back. Giving is a habit that needs to be learned and practiced; for many of the families we work with this mind set is a whole new experience. The families have “given back” to their supporters by making Christmas ornaments, bracelets, and decorations. They are giving to society and their community by learning and implementing useful social behaviors such as Good Habits vs Bad Habits, Conversational and Listening Skills, How to Properly Raise a Child, and other subjects that will help them grow as individuals.
Learning how to cook, sew, or make a toy for their child offers the parents new skills that they can share with their families. They are offered chances to learn new talents and hobbies, all while keeping the focus on giving to others. What they learn at Give Back teaches them to not focus on themselves but on their children, society, and people around them.
